Michigan Center home values have increased by about 4.1% in the last year, settling in around $205,000 as the average value. Going back to August of 2020 (5 years), the average home value has increased 34%. We all know that Covid impacted prices in many areas in some ways. By comparison, Grass Lake and Jackson have increased in home value by roughly 28% over the last 5 years and Grass Lake has seen a 5% increase in home values year over year while Jackson has seen a 2.3% increase year over year.
Michigan Center is a small Michigan town in Jackson County just outside of Jackson City limits with easy access to US 127 and I-94. The small town features Center Lake (which was created by the building of a dam around 1911) and Round Lake making up the west end of the Michigan Center chain of lakes, sometimes called the Big Wolf chain of lakes. It was platted in 1837 and started off as a Mill town along a Grand River tributary. The town had a train station on the Michigan Central Railroad. (Wikipedia)
As of 2023 US Data showed Michigan Center having 4623 residents. The average age of the population was 44 years old with an average income of $68,114. Property ownership rates were around 88-90% owned. The largest employment sectors include production/manufacturing, healthcare, education, construction, administrative, and public service.
A popular event in the area is the Carp Carnival held in June. The Carp Carnival is a fishing event which also includes rides, a parade, food vendors, and live music.
You can imagine that the local chain of lakes will obviously be a big part of the local recreation. Many residents take time to boat, kayak, fish, or spend time doing water sports of some kind. Recently the township purchased and opened a new park on Round Lake. This new park is ideal for a picnic with a sandy swimming area, plenty of shade, and a playground.
